I have written for stage, film and television. My sole published play, the one-act comedy Beached (Samuel French), has been performed throughout the U.S. & Canada for 30 years, and a number of other plays have been produced regionally. I had a brief career as a sicom-writer (Disney-ABC's Life’s Work), and have written 13 screenplays. The only one to get made, Love in the First Degree, a romantic comedy, was produced independently in Australia, reviewed favorably on national TV and released theatrically Down Under in 13 theatres, and played in film festivals around the globe. My other screenplays have been optioned by producers, won screenwriting awards and placed high in nationally recognized screenwriting competitions.
I spent 20+ years in the entertainment industry in New York, Chicago, DC and L.A. as an actor, writer, story editor and film producer.
I worked at HBO, Broadway's Circle in the Square, and defunct film companies, Fine Line Features and Savoy Pictures. I spent seven years as a creative executive/film producer for Filbert Steps Productions in NYC (winner of the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award in 2000 for the film Two Family House).
I have taught playwriting & screenwriting on college level and to adults. More recently, I have taught middle and high school theatre in Fairfax County schools for 10 years and have been writing/producing scripts for those grades. My one-act play Nerdicus (My Brother With Autism) competed in the State Finals of the Virginia High School League One-Act competition in 2014 and received a Superintendent's Award from Fairfax County, an award from the American Association of People with Disabilities at the U.S. House of Representatives, and commendation from the Virginia House of Delegates. My play Cosplay's The Thing premiered at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival in Scotland in the summer of 2016. To read my full writing resume, click here.
